Maryland State Department of Education ISSUES GUIDANCE ON CONCUSSIONS

...During the 2011 session, the Maryland General Assembly enacted legislation requiring MSDE to develop policies and provide recommendations to strengthen concussion awareness throughout the State. The publication was developed with the assistance of MPSSAA, as well as other state and local agencies and healthcare providers, and reflects current MPSSAA practices and procedures.

New to the procedures is a requirement from legislation that parents and athletes sign off on the receipt of concussion information and the need for outside youth sport organizations to verify a concussion awareness program prior to use of school facilities.

The publication has been sent electronically to all 24 Maryland public school systems. It also is available on the MSDE website, click on link below:

The Dolphins are coming off one of their most successful seasons as both teams went a combined 19-1 for the 2010 season, with the Cadet team winning the Salvation Army Championship. The Dolphins pride themselves in teaching fundamental hardnosed football. From their first practice to the last practice of the season they spend the majority of their practice time doing specific hitting drills and teaching positional fundamental. It is this practice philosophy that has proven very successful in the Dolphins players being better prepared for the next level of football.
